The Varsity Girls tennis program competed at a quad in LHS on Tuesday afternoon. The varsity girls continued their early dominance at the LHS quad. The #1 doubles combination of Ali Dodd and Keegan VanPelt went 3-0 on the day with key wins over LHS, Shawnee Mission South and the 4th ranked team in the state, Olathe South. The #2 doubles had similar success with wins over all three teams. Congratulations to both doubles teams.
The singles brackets were represented by Kate Piper at #1 singles and Andie Veeder at the #2 singles spot. Kate competed hard against some quality opponents, and ultimately ended the day 1-2, with a solid victory over LHS. Andie went undefeated on the day at the #2 spot, and ended the day with a solid win over LHS.
On the day the Firebirds were 4-0 against LHS, and a combined 10-2 on the day and finished 1st as a team at the quad.
Varsity competes this Saturday at Emporia in a big 10 team event.
Meanwhile in Olathe, the JV girls competed in a Quad against Olathe South, Shawnee Mission South, and LHS. The Firebirds would go on to tally a 15-3 record for the day, dominating both the singles and doubles brackets.
Kloe Walker (3S), Taylor Veeder/Riddhi Duvvur (1D), and Lauren Malik/Ashton Weeks (2D) all went undefeated.
Oliva Slemmer (1S), Thayu Kimori (2S), and Haley Rasmussen/Atrooba Hashim (3D) all went 2-1.
FSHS shut-out Lawrence High and Olathe South, facing only a total of 3 losses–all to the host school, Shawnee Mission South.
