Free State Varsity tennis was in action Tuesday afternoon in the annual Tri-City series. Sawyer Nickel would lead the squad at the 1 singles spot, finishing the day 3-0, on his way to a first place finish. Henry Six filled the 2 singles spot, and went 1-2 on the day, and took 4th overall in the 8 person field. Freshmen Matt Chappell went 0-3 on the day, but competed in some tightly contested matches.
On the doubles side of the bracket, Free State’s pair of Davis Steadman and Trey Melvin would go 3-0 on the day, and finish first overall. The number 2 doubles spot was filled by Danny Sola and Ben Melvin, who went 1-2 on the day, and would finish 4th overall.
Overall Free State finished first as a team, finishing five points ahead of runner-up LHS.
