Varsity tennis competed against some stiff competition Wednesday afternoon. Manhattan, Olathe Northwest, and Olathe South were all in attendance at CBAC. Sawyer Nickel lead the Free State squad at the 1 singles spot, and would finish the day 3-0, and take first overall in the 1 singles bracket. Junior Trent Ediger would fill the 2 singles spot, and would finish the day with a win over Olathe South, and finish overall at a 1-2 record. Senior Danny Sola would go 3-0 at the 3 singles spot, and would take first overall in the 3 singles bracket.

On the doubles side of the bracket, Free State’s Davis Steadman and Trey Melvin would compete in some tightly contested matches, but would finish the day 0-3. At the #2 doubles spot Henry Six and Ben Melvin would finish the day 2-1, with a close tiebreaker win over Olathe South to end the day. The pair of Six and Melvin would finish 2nd overall at the 2 doubles spot. Free State’s double bracket would rounded out with Jared Loos and Isaac Jacobs at the 3 doubles spot. They would drop a tiebreaker match to Olathe South to the end the day, and finish 0-3 overall in the 3 doubles bracket.

Overall as a team Free State finished in a tie for second place. Free State will be action on April 17th at the annual Plaza Tournament.
