S.A.L.T. of the Firebirds Clubs · S.A.L.T. of the Firebirds Host 1st Annual Sunflower League Student-Athlete Leadership Summit

On Thursday, October 24th, the S.A.L.T. of the Firebirds hosted the 1st Annual Sunflower League Student-Athlete Leadership Summit!  Joined by 66 students from our league schools, the S.A.L.T. of the Firebirds welcomed Keynote Speaker Mrs. Adrienne Bulinski.  Adrienne is an award-winning motivational speaker, entertainer, and the author of “Blood Sweat & Tiaras.”  While she calls Colorado home, she travels to various corners of our country on a mission to positively impact people’s lives by instilling in them the tools to persevere with grit.  She teaches that with the right mind-set, proper amount of determination and stubbornness, even life’s worst days can be overcome.

In addition to a very powerful opening session where Adrienne shared her personal story of learning “Perseverance with Grit,” the student-athletes spent time digging into “grit” by taking one dream and writing a tactical plan on how they will achieve it.  Using a staircase diagram, the student-athletes visually and literally mapped out their approach of taking one step at a time to grab ahold of their dream, leaving with a plan in their hand!  The student-athletes spent time discussing the importance of gratitude, writing a letter of thanks to someone special in their lives.  Additionally, student-athletes learned about the importance of body language as it pertains to giving presentations, interviewing for jobs, and communicating with people in general.  Finally, the day ended with a fierce “Dance Off” amongst all of the attendees!  The Summit will officially conclude second semester, with plans to host a large event with the Special Olympics in the Spring!
