Free State Community,
As we continue to navigate the difficult circumstances we are currently facing, I would like to thank you for your flexibility, patience, and understanding with the start of the 2020 Fall sports season. With having to meet the criteria of the Lawrence Board of Education, the Douglas County Unified Command Smart and Safe School Reopening Guidance, and the Sunflower League, there are several different moving parts when finalizing the Fall schedules and, unfortunately, it has taken much longer than many would have hoped in publishing them.
You will find a link to the schedule for each Fall sport on the respective team’s home page. Please note you may access the schedule by clicking on the season at the top of the home page and then selecting a specific team. Please note those events listed on a schedule that have been crossed-out have been canceled and those events listed in green are currently on-hold as either the host or visiting team is currently unable to participate due to their respective gating criteria. I am committed to rescheduling and/or finding new opponents for all of our sports as cancellations occur, with the understanding that our league schools are currently canceling/postponing a week to two weeks in advance. As members of the Sunflower League, it is our duty to try and honor our league schedules as much as possible.
At this time, information regarding spectators, transportation, etc. have not yet been decided by the district. In addition to assuring you there will be limitations related to those items and that we may not travel more than 90-minutes from Lawrence, I hope to be able to share more specific information with you by the end of this week.
Thank you in advance for your continued flexibility, patience, and understanding. Please continue to check the Free State Athletics website throughout the Fall season for updates.
